Bro, I’m thinking of starting a plant- ased protein company.

Bro, I’m thinking of starting a plant- ased protein company.

“Bro, I’m thinking of starting a plant- ased protein company. I’ve figured out the production, but need to sort out the marketing.”

That was Akash when we first met at my office. A young (not any more) and passionate, yet unorthodox and confused lad. But he was also someone who sold that same company to Marico for INR 630+ crores.

The most awaited episode of them all: One with my long-time buddy and new Padel teammate, Akash Zaveri.

Akash does a phenomenal job of sharing his zero to one journey at Plix. From moving to India after his MBA in the US, to building one of the most successful D2C brands in the startup ecosystem, Akash spills the beans on what worked and what didn’t.

My key takeaways from the conversation and many others I’ve had with him:

1. Never look back with regret. Akash never talks about how he could’ve done things better in hindsight. He will introspect but not regret. And I think that allows him to make newer mistakes without living in the past.

2. You need the right partners. From building Plix with the marketing genius, Rishub Satiya, to finding the right investors who helped the company get to the next level, Akash knows where he needs help and isn’t afraid to share the rewards to build something bigger and better.

3. India is where the magic is. Purely from an economic opportunity for an entrepreneur perspective, India is booming. The key lies in execution and agility. Whether it’s the product form, placement, packaging or pricing.. you need to try it out, fail fast and react faster.

I’m so proud, yet so envious of what Akash has built with Rishub. I hope some of you get some value out of it. As always, please feel free to share your feedback 🙂
